I think it's because she is but she isn't.. meaning..She's not a licensed teacher or at a school. She's a Childcare Provider at a Daycare Center. However, she does regularly teach children and speaks in such a way to make sure she's clear and understood by the little ones.

He must’ve been really shitty and salty acting around her. The fact that Her little brother never came up in 10 years means she never comfortably talk to him about things going on in her life.
