I'm a mothers and I can't see myself being quiet behind someone violating my child. I also can put myself in the mithers shoes based on the timeframe, how black families didn't believe in outside help on family matters and based on this generational curve of sexual abuse and rape that has been swept under the rug from grandma, to mom to daughter. I understand them not wanting to put "their business in the streets" and how the mom just let the ball drop. In understanding and putting myself in their shoes I take it as a learning moment of what not to do if in that situation and what to do. We can't as black women stay silent and let these predators get off scott free.
