When the gold supply in the treasury is low, there is a huge payoff for selling your gold chains, “high value” watches, earrings, etc. Plus, in times of crisis, gold and precious stones can be used for bartering.Those are the “only” thing in “mankind’s history” that retained value even if it’s melted down to various forms>> gold, silver, and precious metals.
