As an avid basketball player fan I think you shouldn’t look for a reason to discredit Lebron. The game and rules were completely different then when Kareem played. You can barely play defense without it being a foul these days. You can’t just run in the paint or be agressive . The rules alone are the reason why Lebron did it the way he did. He has sustained his health over the years.
