I’m thinking what is he getting out of it by continuing to be there for his daughter even though she’s a detriment to him. He said I’m always the one there to clean up her mess. He wants to always be that dad that is there even though it’s not helping her.

He’s continuing to be there for his daughter out of guilt. He doesn’t want to look like he’s abandoning her if he stops being there.
